The Director of Pharmacy will have the career challenges of leading operational and regulatory responsibilities of the inpatient pharmacy, plus providing coaching and counseling to the pharmacy team and other associates in the facility.
Summary: The Director is responsible for the overall administration of pharmacy services. Responsible for developing, supervising and coordinating all activities of pharmacy services throughout the health system. Ensures the pharmacy provides optimal services; meets all legal, accreditation and certification requirements; complies with all applicable policies, procedures, codes and standards of the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Develops and implements polices and procedures that promote cost-effective, appropriate and safe medical care.
* Facilities the implementation and maintenance of safe medication processes throughout the organization.
* Prepares and monitors department budget and capital equipment needs.
* Administers and provides required reports, documents and other data.
* Ensures compliance with all applicable health system procedures; state, federal and local laws, rules and regulations.
* Develops and implements strategic plan for departments.
* Participates in development of new services.
* Participates in health system performance improvement process.
* Develops and maintains quality standards in department.
* Sustains professional competence and promotes development of staff.
Education and/or Experience
Graduate of ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a Pharm D. degree or a Registered Pharmacist with a Bachelor of Pharmacy; residency preferred. Minimum 5 years health care system experience preferred, 1-3 years management experience preferred.
