Maintains documentation on charts. Facilitates groups as assigned. Direct care of psychiatric patients. Maintains knowledge of psychiatric medications. The RN is able to monitor and assess current mental status and psychiatric symptoms. RN is able to assess and monitor physical status. The RN coordinates the care of the patient. The RN promotes safety on the unit. The RN promotes teamwork on the unit. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Therapeutic communication skills, Crisis Intervention skills, Group facilitation skills. Knowledge of psychotropic medications. Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and treatments. Demonstrates knowledge of therapeutic milieu theory and implementation. Demonstrates an ability to prioritize tasks. Required Length and Type of Experience: Previous mental health experience preferred. Required Licensure, Certification or Registry: Current Ohio Licensure, Certification in psychiatric and mental health nursing preferred but not required. Required Physical and Environmental Demands: Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, perform crisis intervention procedures and apply physical restraints. Must be able to remain calm and functioning clearly in a stressful and potentially violent environment.
